Referrals
If you need a referral, you are required to see a clinician regarding the referral. Clinicians will send a letter to the appropriate consultant/accepting specialist. You will usually be notified by the consultant/accepting specialist's office by mail. Occasionally, the notification will be done by phone. Regardless, if the you have not heard from the consultant/accepting specialist's office by three weeks, you are strongly encouraged to call the Grandview Medical Clinic so we can look into the delay.
Forms
The clinicians at the Grandview Medical Clinic are happy to help you complete forms such as driver's physicals, occupational applications, disability tax credits and work related forms. The clinicians understand this is a part of the medical care they provide. However, Manitoba Health considers these as uninsured services, and as such, there is a charge to you as the patient.
Prescriptions
We understand that you cannot always connect with your clinician for perscription refills. The clinicians are generally willing to fill chronic disease/recurrent prescriptions by fax to your preferred pharmacy.
Test Results
We strongly encourage you to discuss each and every test result with your clinician. Don't ever assume that "no news is good news". In general, clinicians encourage you to discuss your results with them. You are, of course, always welcome to copies of the results of your tests.
The time it takes for results to come in is variable and fluctuates. You are encouraged to actively participate in following up on results.
