Referrals
If you require a referral to a specialist or another clinician, you are required to see one of our physicians regarding this referral. Physicians will send a letter to the appropriate consultant/accepting specialist. You will typically be notified by the consultant/accepting specialist's office by mail. Occasionally, the notification will be done by phone. If the you have not heard from the consultant/accepting specialist's office by three weeks, you are strongly encouraged to call the Grandview Medical Clinic so we can look into the delay.
Forms
The physicians at the Grandview Medical Clinic are happy to help you complete forms such as driver's physicals, occupational applications, disability tax credits and work related forms. The clinicians understand this is a part of the medical care they provide. However, Manitoba Health considers these as uninsured services, and as such, there is a charge to you as the patient. Physicians have one month to complete your forms, so please bring them in as soon as possible to avoid any delays.
Please note that as of January 2026, we ask that patients FIND AND PRINT their own forms to ensure we have the correct forms. If you do not have access to a printer, please contact us at 204-546-2774 to make arrangements for printing.

Prescriptions
Patients are asked to schedule appointments with their prescribing physician 1-2 weeks prior to needing prescription refills for new or changing medications.
For long-standing chronic prescriptions, please ask your pharmacy to fax refill requests 3-5 days prior to your prescription running out. We ask that prescription refills are faxed in advance to avoid lapses in medication as our physicians may be out of office and unable to refill your prescriptions the day the refill is requested.

Test Results
We strongly encourage patients to follow-up on their test results with their ordering physician. Do not ever assume that "no news is good news". Patients may receive copies of results AFTER they have been discussed with you and your physician.
Lab, imaging and procedure results can take up to 6 weeks to be reported. You are encouraged to actively participate in following up on results.
Office staff may deliver laboratory values over the phone, but will not provide rationale or interpretation for these values. Lab results, pathology, and all imaging (i.e., CT, x-ray, MRI) results must be discussed with a physician - either in-office or over the phone.
